(CNN) - At least 115 people were dead after a tropical storm smashed Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador over the weekend, reports the officials of the countries.
Guatemala was hit hardest, with at least 92 dead, 54 missing and 59 injured, emergency officials said. Nearly 112,000 people were evacuated and more than 29,000 living in temporary shelters, Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom said in a speech to the nation on Sunday evening.
The devastation was widespread in Guatemala and landslides destroyed houses and buildings, burying some of the victims. At least nine rivers have fallen in much higher levels and 13 bridges, rescue services in the country, "he said.
